Co-Presented Screening as part of the 2008 Los Angeles Film Festival

The Visual Communications crew teams up with the APA First Weekend Club to co-present the Los Angeles premiere screening of THE AMAZING TRUTH ABOUT QUEEN RAQUELA as part of the L.A. Film Festival. RAQUELA, winner of the 2008 Berlin Film Festival's Teddy Award for Best LGBT feature film, is a sparkling amalgamation of documentary, neo-realism and classic fairy tale. Director Olaf De Fleur Johannesson's film tells the story of a Filipina transsexual sex worker longing for true romance and a better life is transfixing, wholly unique and brimming with humanity. As Raquela travels from the familiar but precarious streets of the tropical hometown she's never left to an Icelandic factory town and then on to the Paris she's always dreamt of, Johannesson's camera relishes the subtle beauty of her journey, capturing Raquela's delight as she finds empowerment in the most unlikely places.
