“Arisan” is a unique Indonesian social practice in which a circle of friends gather monthly and deposit a fixed amount of money; a lottery determines who wins the money that month. In ARISAN!, winning the money provides an opportunity for three affluent friends to catch up with each other. Their realities, however, is not exactly a happy picture. Sakti is a repressed closeted gay man whose life is complicated by an overbearing mother, an exasperatingly smitten cousin, and an outspoken gay film producer who puts his discreet life in danger. Meimei is willing to sacrifice anything to get herself pregnant, while Andien, considered by her circle as a perfectionist, is so self-destructive it only takes a little spark for her to explode.
