A bright, colorful comedy of errors, SOFT HEARTS continues the progressive trend of Filipino features that resourcefully construct alternative families from the most unlikely elements. Hopeless romantic Annie has set her sights on an intended husband; her hunky but aloof co-worker Ron. Taking advantage of Ron’s tipsiness at an office party, Annie successfully lures him into a sexual liaison. Upon learning that she’s pregnant (according to plan!), Annie demands that Ron marries her. Only then does she learn that he’s gay and in a long-term relationship with cute “Nick.” But this little fighter is undeterred in her insistence upon having her man, and the developments that spin out of this dilemma range from serious to hilarious, ultimately leading to growth and learning for the members of this hapless triangle. Outrageous by American standards, SOFT HEARTS softly but compellingly insists upon the honor of non-traditional families and the bottom-line value of love.
