SHAOLIN
ULYSSES follows five Shaolin kungfu monks from China who came as immigrants
to America during the 1990s. Their stories are as individual and varied
as they are. All were Buddhist monks and kungfu stars at China’s
famous Shaolin Temple—the birthplace of Zen Buddhism and kungfu—but
each has made a pilgrimage to America in search of a different dream.
From building Shaolin temples in America, to intermarrying and raising
racially mixed families, to doing Las Vegas shows and producing Olympic
sport champions, the five have carved out different lives ina quest
to spread the religion of Shaolin to America.
