The Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival and Gilead Sciences, Inc. invited submissions to the Festival's first ever B Real Film Contest to raise awareness within the Asian Pacific American community about hepatitis B. Hepatitis B is a life-threatening liver disease affecting as many as 2 million people in the United States—more than half of whom are Asian Pacific American.
The B Real Film Contest received 29 short films from 19 talented filmmakers. An expert panel reviewed and ranked all the submissions. Gilead has selected the Grand Prize winner, which will be honored at the Festival’s Opening Night ceremony and be shown before each program throughout the Festival.
